Check-in Tools
Privacy Policy

Effective October 16, 2026

Check-in Tools helps you remember the people you want to stay in touch with. This notice explains how Rooted Software, LLC handles information in the app.

Information and purposes

Your account. We process your email address and authentication information to sign you in and manage your account. Authentication is handled by Supabase. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple provides the information you choose to share, which may include a relay email address.

Selected contacts and check-ins. With your permission, the app reads your device address book so you can select people to track. We store selected names, device contact identifiers, birthdays, check-in dates, reminder frequencies and any notes you enter. We use these records to show your check-ins and calculate reminders. The app does not upload your entire address book. Phone numbers and email addresses displayed to help distinguish contacts are read from your device address book.

Notifications. When you enable reminders, we store the latest registered device's push token, notification preferences and device-synced timezone. Reminders use your timezone and may include a selected contact's name in the notification title. Delivery tickets and receipts help us diagnose failures and disable invalid destinations. Your device may show reminder content on its lock screen according to your device settings. On Android, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging processes app-installation identifiers and device registration tokens to route notifications. Google Analytics is disabled.

Reliability and error reports. The app sends limited error reports containing a fixed error code, app version and temporary per-launch identifier. It does not include raw error messages or stacks, account identifiers, contact details, notes, URLs or recovery tokens. There is no session replay. PostHog person profiles and GeoIP enrichment are disabled, and the error-reporting project discards client IP addresses. Infrastructure providers may separately process connection and security logs needed to operate the service.

This release has no payment, subscription or Stripe integration. App data is used to provide the functions described here, rather than advertising or cross-app tracking.

Service providers

We use Supabase for authentication, database storage and scheduled processing; Expo, Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for push delivery; Apple for optional Sign in with Apple; and a dedicated US PostHog project for limited error reporting. Providers process information needed to perform these functions. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where providers operate.

This public notice is hosted using Vercel. Hosting the notice does not connect the page to your app account or contact records. We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect the service, our users or others.

Retention and security

Account and selected-contact records remain while you use the service, unless you remove them. Deleting your account in Settings deletes its authentication account and related app records. The app clears its widget data after successful sign-out or account deletion. Copies in provider backups may remain until those backups expire through their normal retention cycle; deletion from the active database is not immediate deletion from every backup.

Private push-ticket records are scheduled for deletion after 30 days and are removed with account deletion. Error reports and infrastructure logs follow their providers' configured retention periods. Contact us if you need details about a specific record or retention request.

We use account authentication, access controls and encrypted network connections. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and rights

  • Change notification choices in the app.
  • Revoke Contacts or Notifications permissions in your device settings.
  • Remove tracked people or notes using the app's controls.
  • Delete your account in Settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, receive a copy of or delete personal information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or appeal a privacy-request decision. Contact us using the details below to make a request. We may need to verify that the request relates to your account before disclosing or changing information. You may also contact your local privacy regulator.

The app is intended for adult account holders. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us so we can investigate.
